Winter's Palette

A winter landscape where an impossibly vibrant sky—shifting from deep violet through pink to soft coral—dominates the composition and transforms the frozen world below. The dramatic celestial display reflects in partially thawed ice, creating a dialogue between sky and surface that anchors the piece.
Constructed through layered regional inpainting, the image explores color as emotional temperature. Despite the frozen setting, the warmth of the sky creates tension with the cool blues of ice and snow, suggesting that winter isn't monochromatic—it's a full spectrum experience when light conditions align.

The organic dissolving edges allow the scene to fade naturally into white space, reinforcing the transient nature of these atmospheric moments. Part of my ongoing exploration of Nordic winter light and the specific chromatic qualities that emerge during extended twilight periods at high latitudes.
